Example Finishes

Rigidized Metals ® offers all standard mill produced finishes for both textured and non-textured distribution, as well as specialty polished and embossed finishes. Beautiful finishes on stainless steel are produced by hand to create our Random Swirl and Non-Directional products. Sand-Tex, Linen and Squares finishes are produced by embossing or "coining" fine texture on the face of stainless steel sheets.





2B/Mill

Number 2B or "Mill" finish stainless steel is a dull, low-reflective finish with no grain or direction. 2B finish is not commonly used as an architectural quality surface.

4/Satin

Number 4 finish stainless steel, commonly referred to as "satin" finish, is a general-purpose bright polish that is the most popular choice for architectural applications.

B/A Bright Annealed

Bright Annealed stainless steel has a "cloudy mirror" reflective surface.

8/Mirror

Number 8 polish, or mirror finish, is polished to a mirror quality and has no grit lines.

Matte Finish

Matte finish stainless is a rolled on finish that is very dull and non-reflective. Unlike bead-blast finishes, matte finish is very consistent and flat.

2B/Highlighted (2.FL 2B/HL)

Textured 2B/Mill finish stainless steel is highlighted to a #4/Satin finish on the "peaks" of the characters, creating a unique contrast in shade and reflectivity. Most patterns can be highlighted. Please contact us for availability.

Random Swirl

Random Swirl is polished by hand into 2B finish stainless, and as the name suggests, is completely random. No two sheets are the same.

Non-Directional / Vibration

Non-Directional polish is a consistently polished finish that produces a low reflectivity uniform surface.

Pattern: Hairline Finish

Hairline Finish stainless is commonly referred to as "long-grain" because the grain is considerably more consistent than #4 Finish.

Bright Bead Blast

Bright Bead Blast stainless steel is produced under controlled mechanical conditions to ensure consistency and flatness.

Copper Mill

Copper is a reddish-colored metal, and will patina over time.

Satin Copper

#4 Polished Copper

Brass Mill

Brass is the term used for alloys of copper and zinc. Brass will patina over time.

Satin Brass

#4 Polished Brass.

Muntz Metal

Muntz metal is a form of alpha-beta brass with about 40% zinc and 60% copper. It's primary benefit is that it is a more corrosive resistant brass. Available in both mill and satin finish, muntz will patina over time.

Aluminum Mill
